Timing belt

Hi all,
Looking for and hoping to get some advice regarding my 2016 Mokka. Like some of the other messages that have been left on the forum, I have an issue regarding my timing belt. My milage is just over 57,000 and the vehicle is in pretty good condition. Just passed it's latest mot after a new top strut was fitted. I was informed by the mechanic that the timing chain needed replacing as it was making a bad rattling sound. I took it to the nearest garage that does replacement of the timing chain & was quoted over £2000. The car is only worth £3-£3.5k. I have had no warning lights on the dashboard and have had the car serviced twice in the 3 years I have had it. I am really lost as to what to do. Sell as is, get the repair done or run it into the ground. If anyone can help I would be extremely grateful. Thanks

You don't mention which engine is fitted 1.4T or 1.6cdti.
My local garage did timing chain on mine 1.4T for under £700 as it was rattling when first started. One of the timing chain guides was in bits. So was lucky engine had not self destructed.

1.6cdti diesel. Had 2nd quote today for £2.8k. Car valued at around £3k. Think she is going to have to be scrapped or sold for parts. Just had it mot'd as well. Shame as in good condition otherwise. Thanks

HI, after some advice from anyone who would be kind enough to offer me some guidance. Just had my 2016 1.6CDTI mot'd, after 2nd go it passed. Was informed by the mechanic it needs a new timing chain. Been quoted over £2.5k. Car valued at £3. Anyone have any idea/s about the best way of now selling it and getting the best price. Thanks

My old Honda CRV was worth around 1.5K, it was a 07 plate, and I had it from brand new. It required four new tyres, and the four suspension springs were apparently well rusted and could fail at any time. It passed the MOT with these points to be carried out. The whole thing would cost more than the CRV was worth, so we swapped it in for a 24 plate Mokka 1.9 Turbo Ultimate. Love the wrap-around screen, not seen on any other vehicle.
