Mokka E Ultimate: Reinitialise Tyre Pressure

9.6K views 4 replies 5 participants last post by  wellinever
I’ve been having this issue for about 2 months. I had 1 tyre losing pressure slowly so had 3 changed today. I reset the tyres, but this evening it has told me I need to reinitialise them again. There’s no way I can have lost pressure in a few hours without an actual puncture which there’s no evidence of. has anyone needed to had the computer reset to stop this faukt.?
The system yses data from the ABS sensors to determine differences in rotational speed.
A tyre losing pressure becomes under inflated abs the circumference changes.

It's a good system in that it doesn’t rely on expensive sensors which can be easily trashed but it's also subject to give false readings occasionally.
Even differences in tyre wear and unusual imbalances in tyre pressure xan set ut off as well as inbacracies or faults with the sensors used.

What's important is to ensure the tyres are all in good order with similar depths of tread.
The pressure 36 PSI is from cold.
People tend to ignore this and run with uneven pressures.
Even the suncwsrmingvavwheel up will alter the pressure significantly compared to another wheel in the shade.

Following the instructions to reset the system is also important asvit relies upon cold pressures.

A damaged or worn tyre will have different thermal characteristics to a new tyre.

If the TPMS system indicates which wheel has an issue and things being checked show that not to be the case then the best way forward is to rotate the wheels. For example if NSF is indicated then move the problematic one rearward and the wheel it replaces to where the problem was, probably best to go diagonally but it's only for testing purposes.
Reset the system from cold having accurately tested pressures then go for a test run.

If the TPMS shows a fault and indicates the same axle position in this example NSF then it proves there's an issue with the sensor.

While not everyone would be in a position to move wheels about a tyre shop shoukd be able to do things very cheaply in which case it might be best to move the front pair to the back.

Remember it's just for testing and ultimately you need the tyres with the greatest amount of tread to be fitted at the rear.

Once any customer testing gas been done to pinpoint where the issue lies then ifca garage has charged to diagnose something but failed then it's worth discussing things with them further explaining the significance of your own findings.
