My Carbon flash techline was delivered on Tuesday, only done about 150 miles since then but I have to say I'm well impressed. Before the Mokka I've been driving the Mercedes A class (had 3 in the past 9 years) and now they changed the new A class into "car" rather than a small mpv so I needed to look for something with similar versatile interior and decided on the Mokka. At first I wasn't sure if I'd be comfortable with the move from Mercedes to Vauxhall but WOW! I'm truly impressed. The build quality is very good and I love the cocoa/dark Adriatic interior and ambient dash mood lighting. Wasn't sure if the 1.7TDI would pull as well as the 2.0CDI Merc and the test drive I did was in the 1.4Turbo but I was well surprised and amazed that the 1.7 is actually much quicker at acceleration than the Merc was by a long way and its returning better MPG, about 54mpg at the moment but this only with short runs so I'm sure it will be better than this as time goes by. The ride is very smooth and it's a pleasure to drive, road holding and cornering again is better than the Merc. The Mokka looks great and feels big on the road and its roomy inside, the seats are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage, the only small criticism I have is that the seatbelt is a little awkward to get hold of as the belt strap sits right up against the door pillar, other than that I can't fault the Mokka. Anyone waiting for delivery can take comfort in the knowledge that you are in for a treat. I almost feel like a teenager again driving the Mokka, especially as the DAB radio has the 80s channel! It's the kind of car that makes you look for some excuse to find somewhere to drive to. Road noise is more than acceptable and the diesel engine can't really be noticed once you are up to speed. Overall I'd give the Mokka top marks all-round!
