Hi everyone,

I have ordered a new Mokka SE in metalic red, with front and rear camera, flex fix and the full Navi system.

Looking at your delivery forum and tracking numbers I contacted my online company to see if they could get me the tracking details and I hit a brick wall.

Ordered on the 06 Feb and given 10 - 12 weeks - which now seems a joke. They calculate 29 May which is not even 12 weeks (obviously longer).

Now my point, they order the vehicle through the Vauxhall system so they MUST have a tracking number. Hell they never even came back saying they have enquired but will contact me when they hear about a date.

In other words - sod off ! We will tell you - how dare you ask us. I am considering cancellation based on the outrageous problems listed on this site.

The company is UK Car Discounts. Initially brilliant service but now I am so disgusted with this brick wall I feel like they are just a joke. I would happily lose my £1K deposit but I feel I may have a legal challenge as they are failing to keep me informed.

Sorry, long post.

Whatever you decide to do hope, I hope you get a good resolution. They should already have a tracking reference if it has actually been ordered.
£1000 also seems a high deposit. I know many on the forum have paid £500 but I was only asked for a £250 deposit, which I will get back shortly when it arrives as I went with partners discount and also the interest free leaving my money in the bank.

dangerdoc - give them a call and ask them for the Vauxhall order number - this will then allow you to put the number on the tracking system.

I'm buying through a third party, CarSelect so I don't know who the supplying dealer is. CarSelect advised me when I sought a tracking number that this would only be given to direct retail sales, ie buy from your local dealer. While not being totally happy with this to be fair I am kept up to date without having to ask. They volunteered the information regarding the transporter problems and have provided realistic delivery dates - Car arrived at Portbury on 9th March - no chance of the original dealer delivery on 11th March, but now expected 22nd March. Oh and my deposit was £100.00

This is the problem when it goes through a middle man, although you may save some money, when a problem arises it's a bugger.
I would say as with forestdweller, the third party company 'may' have a tracking number but be using that themselves.

Biggest problem I see with third party companies is unless they order direct from GM, they still have to use a dealer in effect.......... The problem with this is the dealers are only being allowed a certain number of Mokka's per quarter I think it is, so they are going to use as many of them for retail customers rather than third party companies......... That is my take on it anyway, I may be way wide of the mark mind.

Thanks everyone for their responses.

Yes I am luckily extremely versed in my consumer rights and contract law. Although in the medical world, I have actually studied law and completed the legal executives training.

The card used will give me protection but I am after a proper estimate of a tracking date, not a claim. This whole order business came after being smashed up on the M4 after an idiot drove into me at 50mph+. Currently I am in, God forbid, a Citreon Berlingo. Please do not ever buy one of these

I wanted to see if anyone else using a non main dealer but online purchase site was having any joy or problems like me. I find it amazing that UK Car Discounts can tell me that I have ordered the exact same vehicle on Vauxhalls' system, and it was not cancelled, but seem unable to interrogate the system for a simple delivery date. Not that deliveries of Mokkas seem simple at all.

My situation is about to change and I shall be covering lots of miles, I want to do that in a vehicle that I really like, not the catastrophe made by our dear Franch neighbours.

I know that "Buyacar" use vauxhall retailers so you would still have a long wait and as you say who will sort out any problems should they arise.

Hey Jean-Luc thanks. There is no problem with issues. Warranty is covered by Vauxhall, any dealer can deal with issues. 100K lifetime warranty - as advertised.

Online supplier issues - easy. Lots of statutes, Supply of Goods and Services Act, Unfair Contract Terms Act, Sale of Goods Act, Distance selling etc.. Case law aplenty - Donoghue v Stevenson, Derry v Peek, etc.. ect.. so very well covered. They have an implied duty of care.

I have copied every page of their website, not for publication, but reference should anything change.

As I say, I am not looking to take anyone on but just want a proper delivery date estimated that is accurate and ideally sourced by me.

Okay let's take a different approach, ask UK Car Discounts for the name of the dealer they ordered it with (and who presumably will be doing the delivery on behalf of them), it'll probably be a specialist dealer like the business one my company car scheme uses. Maybe once you know that you can approach the dealer and find out the info that way.I had a similar fight with my leasing company till I discovered the details to contact the dealer myself. What's better is that the dealer returns my emails quickly and within 24 hours while the leasing company often take weeks to respond.

As Dangerdoc says, any issues after purchase can be dealt with by local main dealers. While there might not be the implied pressure that might result from "I bought the car from you so fix it" that's the only downside I can see. I bought a Qashqai through CarSelect which turned out to be "Friday Car" with a vengeance. Local dealership took on the problems, including my vocal frustrations with complete professionalism.

As for finding the dealership behind the Brokers - best of luck. They seem to want to remain anonymous, presumably because they don't want all and sundry to know just how big a discount they will give to to a third party who are likely putting in orders for dozens maybe hundreds of vehicles.

I did find out where my Qashqai was sourced, but that was down to a rather garrulous delivery driver rather than any investigative work on my part!

What I really want to know is if anyone else has experience of this lot?

I am keen to raise awareness of great service from providers and even more keen to publicly expose companies who are terrible once an exchange has taken place.

Personally I am going to see what the online forums around have to say on UK Car Discount and will be highlighting their terrible lack of support.

It is disgusting not to really help the customer. Hell I am buying a £25K car (ok I know they discount them - does that not frustrate you too? They are still making shed loads from us after discount!

Sadly I cannot recommend them at all at the moment.

Rant over.

Totally agree why pay a big deposit. With 0% finance that big deposit is better in your bank.

They wanted £500 deposit from me and told them nope, so they took £250.

And i will want that back too lol. Must be the Scottish side of me.

If I drop a pound coin it hits me on the back of my head on the way down

I have used the same dealer for many years, I know them all by name, I get a good discount and deal p/x after a good exchange, I don't pay a deposit and I know if there's an issue they will sort it out. As a long stop there's always vauxhall cs

I think a Good/Bad dealer thread would be good. Obviously too late for us that have ordered, but may be useful for someone researching to buy their Mokka. For the record, at the moment, I'm happy with mine. Pentagon. Mansfailed
