Has Silver Had its Day?

If you have a silver car please don't shoot me down. I still have a silver Corsa although my Mokka is velvet red.

However, silver was definitely a colour for the millennium and the early years of 2000. All shades of silver seemed to be very fashionable and hubby and I certainly had four silver cars of differing shades between us. In fact, often there was little choice - any colour as long as it was silver - Star silver; Silver Flash; Starburst silver etc etc!

But all of a sudden, there seems to be a sea change. Colour everywhere! And not just one colour but multi-coloured cars with different roof colours, wing mirrors etc from many manufacturers.
Is this the start of the colour revolution where people want to again recapture their individuality and make a statement about themselves with their car?

Just an observation!

I play a game with my daughter where we count cars of a certain colour. She usually goes for Yellow or Red. I always go for Silver.

In the 2 mile drive home from the town centre, I counted 57 Silver to her 6 Red cars.

Hi Guys I`m told "WHITE" IS THE NEW SILVER and has been for the past 18 months. I would not buy in that colour.
When, on the dim and distant past, I bought my first car as a student, white was the only colour available. I bought a Mark 1 Ford Escort and had 20 odd white ones to select from! I was gutted when my sister found herself a red one!!

I've had dark blue , white, Moon dust (dark grey) , burgundy, flame red and black (my last car a Meriva). I decided that I'd not had a silver one so that's what I went for this time. After the black one which only looked nice after it was washed and polished and soon looked dirty and showed every single mark I would go for the lighter colour. I must say it never seems to look dirty until you look at it closely. I think to be perfectly honest the range of colours Vauxhall offer on the Mokka are not very good. We had originally ordered the Misty Lake light blue metallic, only for them to come back and say it had been discontinued on the Mokka.

I agree MokkaKen - I've had silver cars for years because I work around dusty environments & silver doesn't show the dirt - for me it's a magic colour & I'm not interested in what the latest trend colour is. Self-cleaning paint would get me interested tho'
