Pspp888 if you want to purchase your own oil,as I have for the past five or six years, cheaper than vauxhall charges,Ican highly reccomend OPIES, they know thier oils they are excellent on delivery and customer service and at the end of the day better value for money than paying vauxhall prices, gettingthe best oil deal, beating most ofmotor factor outlets. www.opieoils.co.uk May I suggest Tech Moderator we enrol the Mokkaowners club to this company as we will then get further discounts when purchasing items.

How often do you think it will need topping up? My Skoda hardly ever needing topping up between services.

I had two Skoda Octavia's on for two years and one for six and a half years. Did on average between 5,000 & 6,000 miles a year for the two years then 9,000 & 10,000 miles a year for the other. Never put any oil in them. Hoping for the same again.

+1

I & many others on a Subaru web site have used Opie for our oils. Excellent knowledge, service & prices. If pre-ordered he even used to bring it to some motoring events to save on delivery costs. My specialist independent garage let me supply my own oil for them to use at each service. I don't suppose Vauxhall will be so obliging.

I wasnt infering that the Mokka would need topping up just that if the club affiliates to OPIE OILS we can whenever we wish to buy from them we can obtain a discount, they sell all detailing items and various other equipment and they are reliable and well worth making use of ,thats all, just another connection for the oil if you wish to buy it for annual services even with pnp it works out cheaper than the dealers charge for there bulk buy oil.

I had to top mine up at around 8000 miles with a litre of oil. Mines a 1.7 cdti.

Mines just short of 10K miles and just had to top up with about a litre of oil too. I found this unusual, I've had a few new cars and do similar miles, this is the 1st I have had to top up before the 1st service.

16300 miles in and just topped it up for the second time since getting it in december. thats 2L of oil.

I've never topped a car up this much. Spoke to Vauxhall and it's normal by all accounts.

When did you start putting oil in. I've now done 4,250 miles and not needed to put any in at all.

My last post up there was June this year at just short of 10K, so going by that 6 months in I topped up 1L and now 3 months after, another 1L.

To me that's not right, I've had my fair share of cars and never topped up this much, if at all.

I also have had my fair share of new cars, well over thirty. Mainly diesel engine. The only car I have had to top up was actually my wife's last car, a 1.3 Corsa diesel. Yellow warning light came on after about seven months with about 8K on the clock.
Could be a Vauxhall thing!

Can someone recommend me a decent oil to get for topping up as I have absolutely no idea what to get... all this 5W, 10W, -30,-40 malarkey makes no sense to me what so ever. I've got a petrol engine... don't even know if that makes a difference to what oil I'm supposed to buy
