Cant wait for the Police scooter with blue lights to catch the illegal scooters.
馃洿馃洿馃洿馃洿

Had them here for a few months more on the roads every week, most of the hire ones seem to ridden Farley safely, its the planks on the privately owned Tweaked ones who pass you when your doing 30 in a 30 who need to have them confiscated and crushed. They're here to stay .
Any form of transport using a public road should at least carry 3rd party insurance, totally unfair to have to pay for damage caused by another person.( and don't forget pedestrians who get clobbered by the ones who use the pavement)
Gonna need 360 degree cameras fitted to cover your butt like the buses do.

White van man accused of murder South of Preston when he mounted the pavement and chased the e scooter and ran him over apparently there had been an incident further down the road -- this was reported in the Lancashire Evening Post a few months ago

Of concern is; with more of these privately owned illegal scooter riders on the road/pavements;
What if a pedestrian suffers injury? Who will they be entitled to claim compensation from?
There is no requirement for compulsory third party insurance when riding an e-scooter. This means that a person who is injured by a careless rider may not be able to recover compensation, unless the rider themselves (assuming they can be traced) is good for the money.
This is likely to lead to great injustice, with innocent victims of e-scooter accidents losing out.
Has this really been thought through?

Not much different to a cycle rider though is it?

Insurance companies can't offer insurance because privately owned E scooters can't legally be ridden on roads/pavements, third party insurance is available for cycle riders, compensation for victims of uninsured road accidents is paid by the motor insurance bureau, hence we all pay about 拢30 a year on our premiums, (and rising) to cover these idiots! (riders and drivers, not victims):)

Think I have a new hobby whilst off work, video all the loan scooter riders who are using the pavement or are carrying passenger, log the plate number and report it online to the supplying company. (apparently they deal with the rider)
Cant really do this for the private scooters but the local Mayor who loves the scooters can have a copy of the clips.
Might not have an impact but if you don't try!

Probably just a slap on the wrist, back to Halfords (other suppliers are available) buy another and be back on the road next day.
Surprised that there are not many reports of people being robbed of these scooters, with the confiscations that will probably raise its ugly head sooner than later.
Wait till the leaves drop in Autumn there will be scooters pilled high in the gutter.

Is there an explanation for this apart from the obvious?
