A very Good How to Wash your car video. I stilldon'trecommend that you wash your wheels first tho, unless you use aseparatebowl or bucket and sponge etc.

I have ordered the Vx Protect service. What do I actually need to do to keep the paintwork in good condition? It seems that you occasionally give the car a wan with a bucket of water and a few drops of a liquid they give you, or apply some of it to the front wings of the car before it goes through a car wash. Do I actually need to put on any wax or similar stuff to protect the shine?
Yes if you want to keep up that shine. Wash with supplied products then once you have dried the car, with a soft drying towel. I would use a quick detail spray as a top up. This is not something you need to do after every wash, however i think you will, when you see the finish.

You use a detail spray after washing, you can either use it just before you dry the car, or spray on after drying and buff off. Depending on the actual product it will be for paintwork or all surfaces. It gives the car a little extra protection and depending on the product some extra shine.
Usually a you would use a large microfiber to dry the car and a smaller one to buff with.
For example:
To dry:http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/washing-and-drying/miracle-dryer-ultra-plush-25-x-36-/prod_362.html
To buff:http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/microfibre-cloths/dodo-juice-fantastic-fur-microfibre-buffing-cloth/prod_948.html

Other vendors and manufacturers are available.

I use a Dodo Juice Noodle wash mitt, a couple of Miracle Dryer -ultra plush and many varieties of buffing including the Sonus der wunder polishing towel. Edited by: tetchmeister

Edit : Tetchmiester beat me to it

Hi Mrs Findles

This is what i use as a drying towel. Its a really soft towel that is very waterabsorbent.http://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index.php/exterior-cleaning/microfibre-drying-towels/autobrite-new-deluxe-fluffy-drying-towel-3ft-x-2ft.html

What happens when youdon'tdry your car off you end up with water marks, looks like white rings.

A Quick detail spray isbasicallya watered down wax. you do one panel at a time spray and wipe with a microfiber.

I have used Meguiars in the pasthttp://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index.php/polishing-prep-waxing/quick-detailing-sprays-gloss-enhancers/meguiars-quick-detailer-spray.html

But now i use this as its cheaper and lasts longerhttp://www.autobritedirect.co.uk/index.php/polishing-prep-waxing/quick-detailing-sprays-gloss-enhancers/berry-blast-quick-detailing-spray.htmI water it down 1 part Berry Blast to 4 parts water.

Mokkadna regarding your scratch.

First off, how deep is it? Second, can you upload a picture?

I thought you knew I was only joking about the scratch (on my other post). I was referring to the cars looking like and made mention of matchbox cars. Said I had seen mine (in the picture/link upload, when I saw the scratch.
Ordered mine a long time ago (seems like forever) and should arrive sometime in april.

Mine is having that kind of detailing experience too!
Has had the waschpudel on twice since November, although it still shines through the dirt

I'm thinking anything more than a quick wash won't happen until the new car arrives. Edited by: tetchmeister
